Are you someone who gets a warm fuzzy inspiring feeling when reading travel quotes as you prepare for your next adventure?
I am. But after exhausting the list of classic travel quotes, I started seeking inspiration from sports. Why not take a quote from something else you love in life and see if you can find some travel inspiration? Perhaps that’s religion or food. Or what about a movie star or your favourite author?
With Google at our fingertips, we can find inspirational quotes from anywhere or anyone in seconds. I’ve gone ahead and used some quotes from various places and related them to travel. Once you’ve read through them, you’ll be able to go ahead and do this yourself.
I’m a sports fanatic (that’s what I blog about while travelling), so have two quotes from athletes, as well as quotes from The Godfather, Helen Keller, Jim Rohn, and the Bible.
I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.
This takes me to a market with a culture of negotiating to reach a final price. You know they’re going to make a ridiculous offer to start with on the off chance you say yes, so always have a game plan.
When you pick up the elephant pants and ask how much, he starts off at $5, you say $2, he says $4, you say $2.50. He says no. You start to walk away saying, “It’s okay, I don’t need the item.” As you do he says, “Okay, okay,” reluctantly.
You knew he couldn’t refuse.
The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.
When you return from your travels, a couple of people (besides Mum) will ask where you’ve been. You attempt to retell some of your favourite moments of the trip, even showing them some video.
Yet as you show them, you can feel that they just don’t understand what it felt like. As you prepare for your travels, don’t feel as though you need to capture everything on camera. Capture it with your heart – that’s irreplaceable.
If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.
This can be applied EVERYWHERE in travel. “Ordinary,” of course, is different for everyone, but for myself, I find taking the bus ordinary at times, so that’s one reason I hitchhike.
When you travel, you can plan all you like, but there will be times you have a decision to make. Should you say yes when you’d usually say no instantly? Perhaps. That is often when the best stories come out and magic moments happen.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Solo travel isn’t for everyone. Perhaps you are really unsure about your upcoming adventure, whether that’s the entire trip, a tough hike coming up, or a new experience you aren’t sure about.
But if you know you’ve got your best friend beside you, you know you’ll get through everything thrown at you. Of course, this doesn’t have to be your best friend; it could be a higher being if that’s your buzz, your parents via phone calls, or even the likeminded people with whom you surround yourself.
If you can believe it, the mind will achieve it.
A popular question from those who are motivated to travel is: how to save money for travel?
Mindset is a massive part of the goal. If you set yourself a goal to save a certain amount of money in X months, you’ll be surprised how your mindset can change and the sacrifices you make to achieve your goal (provided it’s a goal you really want). Plenty of others have done so, like my buddy Nina, who saved a bunch of cash living in Australia. Keokee Travel Gear’s very own Kirstie went to Aussie on a working holiday visa too.
Your friends might not believe you can avoid booze for a month, but if you believe you can, you’ll do it. That may even involve moving countries to save more money. Whatever it takes.
Golf and sex are the only things you can enjoy without being good at them.
When I read a “must have” packing list featuring items that everyone who travels should take, I feel like the worst traveller in the world. I don’t take this, that, this, that.
So, like golf and sex, I enjoy travel, even though I may not be good at it and not follow these “must bring items.”
I’m guessing your mind is racing a million miles an hour now with all sorts of quotes from your favourite things in life. This is a fun process though, right?
